Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Emaliz.

How does the feedback widget work?
You create a campaign, copy the HTML snippet, and paste it into your email. When a reader clicks an emoji, it loads a tiny invisible image that records their vote. No JavaScript, no redirects, no reader login required.
Does this work with my email platform?
Yes. The widget is plain HTML โ€” it works with Mailchimp, ConvertKit, Substack, Beehiiv, Ghost, Buttondown, and any platform that lets you paste HTML into your emails.
Do my readers need to create an account?
No. Readers just click an emoji. That's it. No sign-up, no login, no cookies. The vote is recorded instantly.
What data do you collect from my readers?
Only the vote itself (which emoji they clicked), an approximate location (country level, derived from IP โ€” we don't store the IP), and basic device info for aggregated analytics. We never collect reader email addresses.
Is Emaliz GDPR compliant?
Yes. We collect minimal data, don't store IP addresses, don't use cookies in the widget, and provide full transparency in our Privacy Policy. Readers can contact us to exercise their data rights.
Can readers vote more than once?
The widget is designed for lightweight, anonymous feedback. Since we don't track individual readers, a reader could technically vote again โ€” but in practice, most people click once and move on.
What happens if the service goes down?
The widget fails silently. Your readers see the emojis as normal โ€” the vote just won't register. No broken images, no error messages, no impact on the email experience.
Can I customize the emojis?
The default set is ๐Ÿ˜ (great), ๐Ÿ˜Š (okay), and ๐Ÿ˜• (bad). Custom emoji sets are on our roadmap for paid plans.
